The Gungans, led by the wise and powerful Boss Lyonie, are fighting to protect their underwater home on the planet from the separatists, who have made an alliance with the treacherous Quarren, led by the devious Chieftain Nossor Ri. The Quarren have allied with the separatists, and together they are attempting to overthrow the Mon Calamari monarch and take over the planet.
As the Republic troops arrive on the scene, they are quickly drawn into the conflict. The Republic's Jedi leader, Anakin Skywalker, joins forces with Prince Lee-Char, a young Mon Calamari prince, and together they attempt to unite the Mon Calamari and Gungan forces to stop the separatist threat.

As the battle rages on underwater, Anakin and Lee-Char come to the conclusion that the only way to win the war is to unite the Mon Calamari and Gungan forces, despite their differences and past conflicts. An underwater summit is called, and Anakin and Ahsoka work tirelessly to negotiate a peace treaty between the two groups, hoping to turn the tide of the war in their favor.
But just as it seems like a peaceful solution is within reach, treachery strikes. An assassination attempt is made on Prince Lee-Char's life, and the blame is quickly placed on the Gungans.
