Anakin Skywalker, his apprentice Ahsoka Tano, and the clone troopers have been sent to the planet of Rodia. The Republic has been asked by the Rodian senator, Onaconda Farr, to help protect his planet. Farr has been negotiating a trade deal with the Trade Federation, who have a blockade around the planet. However, during the negotiations, Farr is kidnapped by the Trade Federation.
Anakin and Ahsoka are tasked with rescuing Farr, but they are not alone. Padme Amidala, a senator and friend of Farr's, has also arrived on Rodia to help. The three of them sneak onto the Trade Federation ship holding Farr and discover that the Trade Federation is planning to invade Rodia.
In the meantime, Farr's nephew, Greedo, has gotten himself into trouble with the local gangster, Toydarian kingpin Chairman Papanoida. Papanoida is angry with Greedo for stealing a valuable artifact from him. Chairman Papanoida is a very interesting character as he is played by George Lucas himself!
Papanoida is suspicious of the Republic's presence on Rodia and believes they may be involved in the theft of the artifact. Papanoida asks Anakin and Ahsoka to help him find the stolen artifact and in return, he will provide information that may lead to Farr's location.
As Greedo and his brother continue to run from Papanoida's guards, they stumble upon the Trade Federation's invasion plan. They try to warn their uncle, Farr, but are captured by the Trade Federation's droids.
Thanks to Padme, Anakin, and Ahsoka's infiltration of the Trade Federation ship, they learn of Chairman Papanoida's suspicion and his offer of information. Anakin decides to investigate the stolen artifact with Papanoida in order to secure Farr's location.
The climax of the episode takes place at Papanoida's warehouse. Anakin and Papanoida discover the stolen artifact while Ahsoka and Padme battle against Papanoida's guards. In the end, Anakin and Papanoida make a deal that secures Farr's release, but not before they have a confrontation with the Trade Federation's droids.
The episode ends with the Rodian senator Onaconda Farr thanking Anakin, Ahsoka, and Padme for their help. It is also revealed that the stolen artifact was a family heirloom of Papanoida's and is given back to him.
Overall, Sphere of Influence is an action-packed episode filled with plot twists and interesting characters. It offers a glimpse into the complex politics of the Star Wars universe, while also showcasing the bravery and ingenuity of our heroes.
