Asajj Ventress has been sent on a mission by her Sith master, Count Dooku. Her task is to kill the Nightsister leader Mother Talzin, who has been a thorn in the side of Dooku's plans. However, when Ventress arrives on the Nightsister's planet, she finds that Talzin has received a warning and has gone into hiding. Frustrated, Ventress decides to take out her anger on the Nightsister's army instead.
Meanwhile, on Coruscant, the Jedi Council is still reeling from the recent attack on the Senate building by the Separatists. Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker is tasked with leading a mission to capture the Separatist leader, General Grievous, and put an end to the ongoing conflict. However, the Jedi know that time is running out - if they don't succeed soon, the Separatists could gain the upper hand in the war.
Skywalker decides to split his forces, with half of his troops going after Grievous and the other half staying behind to defend Coruscant. However, the Separatists are one step ahead of them - they've already launched a surprise attack on the capital city. The Jedi must act quickly to fend off the enemy's advance and protect the Senate.
As the battle rages on, Ventress continues her assault on the Nightsisters. However, she soon discovers that Mother Talzin isn't as helpless as she seemed. The Nightsister leader has powers beyond anything that Ventress has ever seen, and she uses them to turn the tide of the battle. Ventress realizes that she's in over her head and decides to retreat - but not before swearing revenge on Talzin.
Back on Coruscant, the Jedi are struggling to hold their ground against the Separatists. Master Yoda himself joins the fight, using his incredible strength and agility to take on wave after wave of droids. Skywalker and his team manage to locate Grievous, but the general proves to be a formidable opponent. Even with the Jedi's combined strength, Grievous is able to hold his own and escape.
Despite their losses, the Jedi are able to repel the Separatist attack and save Coruscant. However, they know that the war is far from over - and that the next battle could be even more difficult than this one. As the episode ends, the Jedi are left wondering when they'll finally be able to bring peace to the galaxy - and if that day will ever truly come.
