Rising Malevolence is the second episode of the first season of the animated television series Star Wars: The Clone Wars. It begins with a Republic fleet trying to break a Separatist blockade that is preventing supply ships from reaching the planet of Christophsis. Meanwhile, Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano lead a small squadron of fighters in a reconnaissance mission to try and locate the Separatist battleship responsible for the blockade.
During their mission, Anakin and Ahsoka discover the Separatist ship, the Malevolence, which is equipped with a powerful new weapon capable of destroying entire fleets with a single shot. The weapon is so powerful that it leaves no survivors, including those who have escaped in escape pods. Anakin and Ahsoka attempt to attack the Malevolence, but are unsuccessful and their ships are destroyed.
Meanwhile, back at the blockade, Jedi Knight Plo Koon and his clone troopers are ambushed by Separatist ships, leaving them stranded in space. Through meditation, Plo Koon is able to sense Anakin and Ahsoka’s distress and communicates with them via the Force. Using the information he gathers, Plo Koon leads a rescue mission to save them.
As the Malevolence continues to wreak havoc on the Republic fleet, Anakin, Ahsoka, and Plo Koon devise a plan to destroy the ship from within. With the help of R2-D2, they are able to infiltrate the ship and make their way to the weapon, but they are discovered by the ship’s commander, General Grievous.
A fierce battle ensues between the Jedi and Grievous, with the fate of the Republic fleet hanging in the balance. In the end, the Jedi are able to destroy the weapon and make their escape, while the Malevolence is left to drift into space, its power broken.
Throughout the course of the episode, we see the Jedi and clone troopers displaying bravery, resourcefulness, and determination in the face of overwhelming odds. The episode also introduces new characters, such as Plo Koon and General Grievous, and deepens our understanding of familiar ones, such as Anakin and Ahsoka.
Overall, Rising Malevolence is an exciting and action-packed episode that showcases the strengths and weaknesses of both sides of the conflict in the Clone Wars. It sets the stage for future battles between the Republic and Separatist forces and sets the tone for the rest of the series.
