In "Child's Play," the 19th episode of season 6 of Star Trek: Voyager, the crew encounters an unexpected visitor aboard their ship: Icheb, a former Borg drone who had been rescued and taken in by the U.S.S. Voyager a year prior. However, Icheb has not come alone - he has brought with him his adoptive mother, the former Borg known as Seven of Nine, who is still struggling to adapt to her newfound humanity.
As Icheb and Seven settle into life aboard Voyager, they quickly discover that they are not safe from the threat of the Borg. A group of the cybernetic aliens have been tracking Icheb, seeking to reclaim him and extract information he possesses. As the crew works to protect Icheb and Seven from the Borg, they also begin to learn more about the young man's past and the struggles he has faced since being liberated from the collective.
Meanwhile, Janeway becomes determined to help Seven reconnect with Icheb, who she has been somewhat distant from since they arrived aboard Voyager. As Janeway encourages Seven to open up about her fears and doubts, the two women begin to form a closer bond, helping Seven to come to terms with her past as a Borg drone and her present as a member of Voyager's crew.
As the episode unfolds, the crew must work together to protect Icheb from the Borg and help Seven come to terms with her own past. Along the way, they learn more about the complexities of life as a former Borg drone and the challenges of adapting to a new way of life.
"Child's Play" is a thought-provoking and emotional episode that explores some of the key themes of Star Trek: Voyager, including the challenges of finding one's place in the universe and the importance of coming to terms with one's past.
