After receiving a distress call from an unknown ship, the crew of Voyager investigates and discovers a group of aliens who have been hunted down by a deadly race known as the Hirogen. The aliens, called the Hunters, are fighting for their survival and request Voyager's help in defeating the Hirogen.
Captain Janeway agrees to help and proposed a plan to outsmart the Hirogen. However, during their attempt to carry out the plan, they discover that the Hirogen have a weapon called the "killing floor" that can trap and kill anyone in its path. The situation becomes more complicated when they learn that the Hirogen have been using holographic technology to create an elaborate hunting simulation on the ship, using members of Voyager's crew as their prey.
As the Hirogen continue to hunt down Voyager's crew, the Hunters reveal a startling secret: they have a plan to stop the Hirogen for good, but it may require a sacrifice from one of Voyager's crew members. Janeway must weigh the cost of this plan against the safety of her crew and the Hunters' chance for survival.
Meanwhile, Seven of Nine struggles with her own past as a former Borg and her perceptions of individuality, even as she helps the crew combat the Hirogen's superior strength and weaponry. She faces a tough decision when she must choose between helping the Hunters or sticking to her loyalty to Voyager.
As tensions rise and the situation becomes more dire, Janeway and her crew must use everything at their disposal to defeat the Hirogen and protect their own lives. But they soon discover that the true nemesis may not be the Hirogen, but their own limitations as humans.
