In Star Trek: Voyager, Season 3 Episode 3 "The Chute," Tom Paris and Harry Kim are wrongly accused of a terrorist attack and sentenced to a prison known as "the chute." The chute is a treacherous prison consisting of a vertical shaft with cells located along the walls, where prisoners are dropped in and have to survive by any means necessary. As the two Starfleet officers endure their stay in the inhumane facility, they face life-threatening situations and brutal fights.
Meanwhile, Captain Janeway and the crew of the USS Voyager search for evidence to clear the names of the wrongly accused men. They come across a potential remedy in a race of aliens known as the Baneans, who claim to have knowledge of the terrorist attack and the real perpetrators. Janeway negotiates with the Baneans for information, but their secrecy poses a challenge.
Back at the prison, Paris and Kim befriend fellow inmates, Zio and Rettik, who reveal information about the chute's security system. The group decides to band together and escape, but their plan is thwarted after an unexpected turn of events.
With time running out, Janeway must find a way to uncover the truth and exonerate Paris and Kim before it's too late. She ultimately devises a plan to infiltrate the chute and save the unjustly accused officers.
