Spock has gone rogue, leaving Starfleet Intelligence with little hope that he will return safely. Without Spock, it is imperative that Captain Jean-Luc Picard and the crew of the Enterprise work quickly to find the ultimate goal of his clandestine mission: the unification of the Romulan and Vulcan peoples.
In part two of this two-part story arc, "Unification," the crew of the Enterprise find themselves deep in Romulan territory, where danger lurks at every turn. As they continue their investigation into Spock's whereabouts, Picard and Data discover a secret Romulan fleet, which they suspect is being used to mount a surprise attack on the Federation.
However, when they beam down to the planet to meet with Spock, they realize that the true reason for his mission is something far more personal. Spock is on a quest to find his father, Sarek, who has become a political prisoner of the Romulans. In order to accomplish this, he has enlisted the help of a Vulcan/ Romulan hybrid named Pardek, who has his own reasons for wanting to see the two races reunified.
As they race against time to find Sarek, Picard and Spock engage in a philosophical debate about the nature of the two peoples, and the possibility and implications of their unification. Meanwhile, the Enterprise crew face mounting danger as they try to evade Romulan warships and protect the ship from sabotage.
As the story builds to a climactic finale, the crew of the Enterprise must work together to prevent the Romulans from carrying out their plan of attack and to ensure that Spock and Sarek make it back to the Federation safely.
