The sword is believed to be in the hands of a group of scholars who have been studying its history. Kor, Koloth, and Worf set out to find the sword, accompanied by the leader of the scholars, a woman named Jadzia Dax.
As they search for the sword, the four encounter numerous challenges. They are pursued by a rival Klingon clan who also seek the sword, and Kor and Koloth's loyalty to Gowron is called into question. Additionally, the sword itself possesses a dangerous power, causing those in possession of it to become obsessed with its power and willing to go to extreme lengths to keep it.
