In season 9 episode 20 of SpongeBob SquarePants titled Sharks vs. Pods/CopyBob DittoPants, both plots feature a duplication theme with different outcomes.
In the first half, "Sharks vs. Pods," SpongeBob and his friends enter the Goo Lagoon Annual Migration of the Pods race. When competing against the pod of sharks, the race gets intense and dangerous. While Sandy tries to outsmart the shark pod, SpongeBob's plan backfires, and they end up swallowed whole. The group soon figures out that the shark pod is more scared of them than they are of the sharks. They use this to their advantage and end up winning the race.
The second half, "CopyBob DittoPants," starts with SpongeBob accidentally spilling a duplicating formula onto himself. The formula causes SpongeBob to multiply, resulting in hundreds of identical SpongeBobs. As the SpongeBobs begin to show different personalities, chaos breaks out in the Krusty Krab. The original SpongeBob clones himself to stop the chaos, but it only results in even more SpongeBobs.
The highlight of the episode is how the two plots intersect with a common thread of duplication. While the first half focuses on duplicating pods and the second half focuses on duplicating SpongeBob, both plots showcase how too much of a good thing can go awry. Nonetheless, the episode is full of humor and charm that makes it a fun watch for both children and adults.
