Meanwhile, Squidward's attempts to hitchhike his way to the recital prove fruitless, and he begins to fear that he will never make it in time. Just when all seems lost, Spongebob and Patrick arrive in their boat, and offer Squidward a ride to the concert.

The trio rushes to the recital, with Spongebob and Patrick providing musical accompaniment on their makeshift instruments. Squidward is thrilled to finally make it to the performance, and delivers a flawless clarinet solo that brings the house down.

In the end, Spongebob and Patrick may not have found the treasure they were searching for, but they learn that the real treasure is the friendships they have formed along the way. Squidward also learns the value of having friends, even if they are a bit quirky and unpredictable.
