Lucky and the Girl Who Cried Wolf is an exciting episode of Spirit Riding Free's eighth season. The episode takes place in the beautiful landscapes of Miradero, where Lucky and her friends, Pru and Abigail, continue to explore their love for horse riding and their commitment to protecting their homeland.
The episode starts with Lucky noticing a new arrival at boarding school, Avery, who immediately grabs her attention. Although Lucky admires Avery's lovely horse-riding skills, she quickly discovers that the new student is not what she seems. When Avery tells a schoolmate a tale about a wolf who attacked her, Lucky and her gang are skeptical. After all, the people of Miradero live alongside wolves without incident. The suspicion arises when Lucky and her crew identify imperfections in Avery's storyline, raising the question of whether Avery is lying.
As the episode goes on, Lucky and her crew become more and more dubious of Avery, especially after a chorus of howling disturbs her. Despite her buddies' objections, Lucky believes there must be more to Avery's history with wolves, and she sets out to unearth the truth.
Lucky's persistence pays off when she learns the truth about Avery's distrust of wolves. Avery's hostility toward the wild animals stems from a tragic incident involving her grandfather. She believes that one of the wolves at the scene of the deadly collision was responsible for her grandfather's accident. After hearing Avery's account, Lucky and her friends have a new understanding of the new student.
The situation becomes more complicated when a wolf pack is discovered near town, and Avery insists that they are dangerous. Fortunately, Lucky's understanding of horses and ability to empathize with animals saves the day. She recognizes that the wolves are simply acting instinctively to protect their territory and are therefore not posing a danger to the township.
In the end, Lucky and her gang are able to bring about change by encouraging Avery to see the wolves in a new light. By cooperating with Lucky and her friends, Avery is able to gain a deeper understanding of both horses and wolves and the necessity of living with wildlife. The magnificent episode wraps up with Lucky and her friends vying for new adventures in the breathtaking landscape of Miradero!
