Maya decides to take the family on a road trip to visit the alma mater of her college friend. JJ, who is excited to visit a college campus, is disappointed when he discovers Maya's true intention is to confront the school for not being adequately accessible to people with disabilities. Along the way, the family stops at a beach where Jimmy convinces Dylan to bond with some girls over their mutual love of sports, but they aren't aware that before the sun sets, both boys and girls will be forced to confront unexpected truths about themselves.
