Tommy Zoom, Eagle, Hawk, Raven, and Robyn are back for another episode of Space Racers, and this time they're faced with a challenge they've never encountered before. In "Them's the Brakes," the crew is tasked with testing a new braking system for their spaceship.
As they prepare for the test, the crew discusses the importance of brakes and how they work. Tommy Zoom, as always, is the most eager to get started and quickly jumps into the cockpit to take control of the ship. However, when they hit the brakes, they discover that the new system isn't working as expected.
With their safety in mind, the Space Racers decide to postpone further testing until they can figure out what went wrong. The crew begins to investigate different factors that could have affected the braking system, including weight distribution and velocity. Their findings lead them to discover that a small glitch in the braking system's computer code had gone undetected during the initial testing phase.
Determined to fix the problem, the Space Racers work together to rewrite the code and take the spaceship out for another test run. This time, everything goes smoothly and the crew is relieved to see the new braking system working perfectly.
However, just as they're about to return to base, the crew encounters an unexpected obstacle. A large asteroid is heading straight for their ship, and they must act quickly to avoid a collision. With their new braking system, the Space Racers are able to maneuver the ship away from the asteroid just in time.
As they celebrate their successful test, the crew reflects on the importance of having reliable brakes and the hard work required to ensure they are functioning properly. Tommy Zoom, in particular, realizes that it's not always about being the fastest or the first, but about being safe and smart.
"Them's the Brakes" is a thrilling episode that teaches young viewers about the importance of brakes and the process of testing and fixing new technology. With their trademark blend of action and education, the Space Racers continue to engage and inspire children to learn about science, technology, engineering, and math.
