In South Park season 8 episode 10, titled "Preschool," the town's residents find themselves in an uproar after news spreads of a new preschool opening in town. The preschool, called "School Days," has all the newest and most advanced technology available, promising to give its young pupils an edge in academics and social skills.
The parents of South Park quickly flock to enroll their children in the new preschool, hoping to give them an advantage in life. However, things quickly take a turn for the worse as some of the children begin exhibiting strange behavior and intense aggression.
The adults of the town are initially dismissive of the issue, blaming the children's behavior on their own parenting skills. However, as more and more children become increasingly violent, the adults begin to suspect that something is amiss at School Days.
In an attempt to investigate the situation, the adults sneak into the preschool to observe the children and their teachers. What they find shocks them to their core - the teachers are essentially performing psychological experiments on the children, using a variety of methods to manipulate and control their behavior.
The horrified parents bring their findings to the attention of the school board and demand that School Days be shut down immediately. However, they quickly discover that the tech industry is heavily invested in the preschool, and they are met with fierce opposition.
Meanwhile, the children of South Park continue to attend School Days, completely unaware of the sinister practices taking place behind closed doors. The town is left to grapple with the fallout of their continued support for the preschool, and the potential lifelong effects it could have on their children.
"Preschool" highlights the dangers of blindly trusting new technology and the lengths corporations will go to in order to profit off of it. Through its satirical and often absurd humor, the show raises important questions about the ethics of child development and the responsibilities of those in positions of power.
