In "Red Sleigh Down," the seventeenth episode of the sixth season of South Park, it's Christmastime in the small Colorado town, and the children are excited about the impending arrival of Santa Claus. Meanwhile, the United States government, aware that the children of Iraq do not receive Christmas presents, devises a plan to capture Santa and airlift him to Baghdad to deliver presents to Iraqi kids courtesy of the U.S. military. However, things quickly go awry when Santa's sleigh is shot down by Iraqi insurgents, leaving him stranded in the war-torn country. The military calls upon the only people they can think of to rescue Santa- the foul-mouthed children of South Park. Cartman, Stan, Kyle, and Kenny journey to Iraq to save Santa, encountering a series of obstacles along the way. Once they arrive in Iraq, the boys quickly realize the harsh reality of war as they witness bombings, shootings, and other forms of violence. They sneak into the enemy base where Santa is being held captive, but are quickly discovered and taken prisoner themselves. In a moment of desperation, the boys turn to Santa for help, reminding him of the true meaning of Christmas and the joy it brings to children around the world. With renewed spirits, Santa hatches a plan to deliver presents to both American and Iraqi children. With the help of the boys, he stages a diversion that allows him to escape and deliver presents to every child in the area. By the end of the episode, the boys return home to South Park, realizing the importance of putting aside their differences and spreading love and joy, especially during the holiday season.
