The List begins with a schoolboy, Clyde, being dumped by his girlfriend, Bebe. Bebe explains that she has a new set of relationship standards based on the letters of the alphabet. She wants to date a boy whose name starts with a letter high up in the alphabet, arguing that such boys are more assertive and confident. Bebe also mentions that the girls in the school have created a list that ranks all the boys in their school based on their attractiveness.

Soon after this, the boys in the school also learn about the list and are devastated that they are not ranked higher. The boys begin pitting against each other, trying to climb up the list and win the girls' attention. This leads to various shenanigans involving the boys trying to impress the girls, like Kyle writing a song that hilariously protests against the list. The girls are also divided, with Wendy and Bebe leading the group that created the infamous list and other girls who disagree with their methodology.

Things escalate when the boys find that the girls have created a counter-list that ranks the boys based on their fear level. The list incorporates both the physical harm and emotional stress that the boys could inflict on the girls. The boys are shocked and outraged by this and decide to teach the girls a lesson. They respond by creating their own list to rank the girls based on their physical attributes. The consequence of this action is, however, not something that they had foreseen.

The List is a commentary on human nature, especially the way people perceive beauty, attraction, and relationships. It also touches on the way society propagates different standards for men and women. The show criticizes the boys for objectifying the girls and ranking them based on their appearance. It shows the potential harm that can be inflicted when people start assigning value judgments based on these narrow standards.

The List also takes jabs at pop culture trends such as Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram, and YouTube, platforms that have exacerbated the problem of people projecting perfect lives and unattainable beauty standards. The show highlights the problematic nature of the virtual and digital world building into the physical reality and the way people form perceptions of each other.

The boys and girls' reactions convey shades of humor with repeated behaviors. The boys acting macho, as they rack their brains about how to climb up the list, and the girls continuing to debate about the status of boys based on the list. The parents' reaction to the chaos gets referenced and shown as they hypocritically condemn their kids for their actions while they themselves invest in hair plugs to get a better ranking.

The List ends with a moral lesson that everyone learns when they get burned by their misguided actions. The school gets divided into two factions, and the list leads to quarrels, pranks, and deceptions. Yet, by the end of the episode, each one involved starts to see the other's perspective, and peace prevails. The show concludes on a positive note, highlighting the need to look beyond the superficial and form relationships based on real values such as friendship, honesty, compassion, and respect. The List is a thought-provoking episode that reminds its viewers of the importance of self-respect and staying true to oneself.
