In South Park season 11 episode 13, titled "Guitar Queer-O," the boys become obsessed with a video game called Guitar Hero and decide to form their own band, "Moop," in hopes of winning a cash prize in a local competition. However, their dreams are shattered when they realize they are not very good at the game, and their bandmates include a drug-addicted rock star and a young boy who is only good at the game because he has no life. Determined to win the competition, the boys seek help from a washed-up musician named Stan's Uncle Jimbo who introduces them to a top Guitar Hero player, Kyle's cousin Kyle. With Kyle on board, the boys improve their skills and become a worthy opponent for their rivals, a team of obnoxious teenagers who call themselves "KISS." Meanwhile, the boys' obsession with the game begins to affect their friendships and schoolwork, causing concern for their parents and teachers. As the competition approaches, tensions rise and the boys must decide what is truly important to them: their friendship or the game. Throughout the episode, there are also several references to real-life rock bands and musicians, including KISS, Metallica, and Lou Reed, and the game itself is a parody of the popular video game franchise, Guitar Hero. Overall, "Guitar Queer-O" is a humorous and satirical take on the video game and music industries, as well as the competitive nature of friendships.
