Soul Eater Not! season 1 episode 3, titled "The Witch of the Girls' Dorm!," follows the daily lives of Tsugumi Harudori, a halberd-shaped demon weapon, and her two best friends, Meme Tatane, a cat-looking demon weapon, and Anya Hepburn, a British aristocrat.
The episode starts with the trio writing to their families about their new school and lives. Tsugumi and Meme express their enthusiasm, while Anya puts on a posh façade, trying to hide her homesickness.
Later that day, Tsugumi and Meme are helping Anya at the girls' dorm when they hear strange noises coming from her room. Anya insists it is nothing, but Tsugumi and Meme's curiosity gets the better of them, and they slip into her room to investigate. As they rummage through her room, they hear footsteps approaching and quickly hide. It turns out to be Kim Diehl, a witch who also lives in the dorm. Kim is Anya's roommate and seems cold and distant towards her.
Tsugumi and Meme accidentally drop a vase, and Kim catches them red-handed, scolding them for their actions. The trio apologize, and Kim gives them a warning to stay out of other people's rooms.
The next day, Tsugumi and Meme are walking to class when they encounter Kim again. She seems different from yesterday, kinder and more approachable. They share a laugh and walk to class together, where they meet up with Anya.
In class, the trio learns about the different types of witches and weapons that exist in the world. They also learn that Anya's family is one of the prestigious "Traitors to Humanity" families, known for their supposed betrayal of humanity in the past. Anya expresses her frustration at the reputation her family has earned and how she is constantly compared to her older sister, who is a weapons master.
After class, the trio goes to the cafeteria to eat and study. Tsugumi is struggling with a math problem, and Kim offers to help her. Their conversation is interrupted by a boy shouting in the cafeteria. The boy is a nuisance and creates trouble for Kim, Tsugumi, and Meme. Kim tells the boy to stop being rude and to respect the people around him. The boy leaves, and Kim offers to help Tsugumi with her studies if she ever needs it.
The episode ends with Tsugumi, Meme, and Anya reflecting on the events that happened in the girls' dorm and how they are slowly becoming more comfortable with each other.
