Ep 38. Ann Miller Kontz

  • January 22, 2012

Ann Miller Kontz was known to her friends and family as a loving mother and dedicated community leader. She served as the president of the Junior League of Montgomery, Alabama, a prestigious organization that aimed to improve the community and promote volunteerism. Ann seemed to have everything going for her, but a shocking crime would soon change that.

On the morning of April 11, 2008, emergency services received a call from Ann's husband, Dr. David Kontz. He reported that he had found Ann lying unconscious at the bottom of the stairs in their home. Paramedics rushed Ann to the hospital, but despite their efforts, she could not be revived. The initial assumption was that Ann had fallen down the stairs and suffered a tragic accident.

However, as investigators delved deeper into the case, they began to uncover a disturbing set of circumstances. First, there were the injuries that Ann had suffered. Her head injuries were not consistent with a fall down the stairs, but rather with blunt force trauma. Additionally, Ann's blood was found on the bottom of her shoes, which seemed unlikely if she had fallen down the stairs.

Then there were the inconsistencies in Dr. Kontz's story. He claimed that he had slept through the night and only discovered Ann's body in the morning. However, neighbors reported hearing a loud argument coming from the Kontz home late that night. When questioned further, Dr. Kontz's story began to change, and he admitted that he had been up late arguing with Ann.

As the investigation continued, police learned that Ann and David's marriage was not as idyllic as it appeared. In fact, Ann had confided in her friends that she was unhappy in her marriage and had been considering divorce. Furthermore, she had recently discovered that David had been having an affair with a much younger woman.

The evidence against David Kontz began to pile up, and he was eventually arrested and charged with Ann's murder. In court, prosecutors painted a picture of a man who had become obsessed with his mistress and had grown increasingly resentful of his wife. They argued that David had killed Ann in a fit of rage when she confronted him about the affair.

David Kontz, however, maintained his innocence throughout the trial. He claimed that he had nothing to do with Ann's death and that the evidence against him was circumstantial. Despite his protests, the jury found him guilty of murder, and he was sentenced to life in prison.

The case of Ann Miller Kontz shocked the community of Montgomery, Alabama. A woman who had dedicated her life to making the world a better place had been taken away too soon by someone who was supposed to love and cherish her. It was a tragic reminder of how even the most seemingly perfect lives can be shattered by violence.

Snapped Season 8 Episode 38 tells the story of Ann Miller Kontz's untimely death and the events that led up to it. It is a gripping true crime tale that will leave viewers on the edge of their seats until the very end.
