Ep 8. Cynthia Alvarez

Cynthia Alvarez was a vivacious 18-year-old when she met the man who would become her husband, Roberto. They shared a passion for dancing and quickly fell in love. But their relationship was far from perfect. Roberto had a violent temper and often physically abused Cynthia. Despite this, Cynthia stayed with him, hoping that he would change.

After several years of marriage, Cynthia had had enough. She filed for divorce and moved back in with her parents. But Roberto was not ready to let her go. He stalked her, called her incessantly, and threatened violence against her and her family.

One day, Roberto showed up at Cynthia's parents' house armed with a gun. He forced his way inside and ordered Cynthia to come with him. Terrified for her life, Cynthia complied. They got into his car and drove off. This was the last time Cynthia was seen alive.

Roberto told police that he had dropped her off at a bus station and that she had said she was going to California. But her family knew that this was not true. Cynthia would never have left without saying goodbye.

Months went by with no sign of Cynthia. Finally, Roberto was arrested and charged with her murder. He was convicted and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

But the story doesn't end there. Several years after Cynthia's death, her sister received a letter from Roberto. It contained a map that purported to show where Cynthia's body could be found. The map led police to a remote area and, after a lengthy search, they discovered her remains.

The discovery of Cynthia's body brought closure to her family, but it also raised questions about Roberto's true motives. Why had he kept her body hidden for so long? Was he hoping to someday be released from prison and retrieve it? The answers may never be known, but the tragedy of Cynthia's life and death will always be remembered.
