Uloma Curry-Walker was a woman with a troubled past, having struggled with addiction and mental health issues. But when she met firefighter William Walker, she believed she had found her happily-ever-after. The two quickly tied the knot, but their marriage was far from perfect.
Walker's family never accepted Uloma and the couple bickered constantly about finances and household chores. Despite this, Uloma appeared to be a devoted wife, often posting photos and messages of love on social media. But behind closed doors, she was anything but.
When William learned that he was going to be awarded a settlement from a 2013 workplace injury, Uloma saw an opportunity to solve their financial problems. She hired a hitman, Chad Padgett, to kill her husband and collect the money. In return, she promised to pay Padgett $1,000 per month for the next ten years.
On the morning of November 3, 2013, William Walker was lured outside of his Akron, Ohio home and shot four times by Padgett. Uloma played the part of the grieving widow, but her demeanor quickly raised suspicions among investigators.
Detectives eventually uncovered the plot and arrested Uloma and Padgett. During her trial, Uloma maintained her innocence, claiming that Padgett acted alone. But the evidence against her was overwhelming and she was found guilty of aggravated murder, conspiracy, and other charges.
Snapped's retelling of Uloma Curry-Walker's story delves into the factors that led her to commit such a heinous act and the investigation that ultimately brought her to justice. Through interviews with friends and family, as well as law enforcement officials involved in the case, viewers are given a glimpse into the mind of a woman who was willing to do whatever it took to get what she wanted.
