Ep 5. Carol Bundy and Douglas Clark

In season 4, episode 5 of Snapped: Killer Couples, viewers are taken back in time to the 1980s to explore the twisted relationship of Carol Bundy and Douglas Clark. Known as "The Sunset Strip Killers," Carol and Douglas defied all expectations of what a normal couple should be.

Their relationship began when Douglas met Carol, a divorced mother of two, while working as a security guard at an LA bar. Despite the fact that he was nearly twice her age, Douglas was infatuated with Carol and quickly became a regular fixture in her life, moving in with her just a few short months after they met.

However, as the relationship progressed, it soon became clear that there was something sinister lurking beneath the surface. Douglas had a fascination with bondage, domination, and sadomasochism, and he forced Carol to participate in a variety of disturbing sexual acts. At the same time, the couple began to spiral out of control, using drugs and alcohol to numb their pain and fuel their violent tendencies.

In the summer of 1980, the couple's depravity reached a sickening climax. Over a period of just two months, they went on a killing spree that rocked the city of Los Angeles. They targeted young women who were working as prostitutes or hitchhiking along the Sunset Strip, luring them into their apartment with promises of money and drugs. Once inside, they would torture the women, sexually assault them, and then strangle them to death.

Despite their efforts to evade the police, Carol and Douglas were eventually caught and arrested, thanks in large part to the tireless efforts of detectives who spent countless hours building a case against them. In the end, both were convicted of multiple counts of murder and sentenced to death.

Through interviews with family members, friends, and law enforcement officials, as well as reenactments of key moments in their relationship and subsequent trial, viewers are given a chilling look into the minds of two of the most depraved killers in American history.
