Clark (Tom Welling) and Lana (Kristin Kreuk) are still trying to figure out how to have a relationship in light of Lana's sudden transformation into a superhero. Meanwhile, a new girl arrives in Smallville and she has powers of her own. Her name is Linda Lake (Tori Spelling), and she's a tabloid reporter who seems to know everything about everyone in town, including Clark's true identity.
Clark isn't thrilled to see Linda, who he knows will stop at nothing to get a scoop. But when Linda starts to use her powers to blackmail people, including Lex (Michael Rosenbaum), Clark realizes he needs to do something to stop her. He tries to use his own powers to get Linda to back off, but she's not easily intimidated.
Things really heat up when Linda starts dating Jimmy (Aaron Ashmore), a photographer at the Daily Planet who's just started working with Chloe (Allison Mack). Chloe tries to warn Jimmy about Linda, but he's smitten. Before long, Linda and Jimmy's relationship takes a dangerous turn, and Clark is forced to intervene to prevent any more harm.
Meanwhile, Lana is struggling with her own new powers. She's been experiencing intense bursts of anger that she can't seem to control. Clark tries to help her, but she pushes him away, afraid of hurting him. But when Lana's powers start to put innocent people in danger, she realizes she needs Clark's help after all.
As Clark works to take down Linda and save the people of Smallville, he also has to navigate the complicated dynamics of his relationships with both Lana and Lois (Erica Durance), who's still a thorn in Clark's side despite their recent truce. It's a high-stakes episode that sets the stage for even more drama to come in Smallville's seventh season.
