In Smallville season 6 episode 3, titled "Wither," Clark Kent (Tom Welling) returns to the Kent farm after spending the summer helping his father Jonathan (John Schneider) on the farm. He quickly learns that his best friend, Pete Ross (Sam Jones III), has left town with no explanation. Meanwhile, Lana Lang (Kristin Kreuk) is dealing with the aftermath of being possessed by a witch and is struggling to control her newfound abilities.
As Clark reconnects with his old life on the farm, he notices that the crops are dying and the land is withering away. He investigates and finds out that a new plant called the Black Creek Seed is responsible for the problem. The plant has been genetically engineered to grow faster and produce more yields, but it is also destroying the soil and the local ecosystem.
In his search for a solution, Clark teams up with Lex Luthor (Michael Rosenbaum), who has acquired the company responsible for the Black Creek Seed. Lex's motives are unclear, but he seems genuinely interested in finding a way to reverse the damage done by the plant. Together, Clark and Lex must navigate their complicated relationship and work towards a common goal.
Meanwhile, Lana's powers continue to grow and she struggles to control them. She turns to her new boyfriend, the mysterious Adam Knight (Ian Somerhalder), for help. Adam seems to know more than he lets on and Lana becomes suspicious of his true intentions.
The episode ends with Clark and Lex successfully finding a way to reverse the damage caused by the Black Creek Seed. Lana, however, is left with more questions than answers about Adam's identity and motives.
Overall, "Wither" is an engaging episode that highlights the complex relationships between the characters and introduces new challenges for them to overcome. It sets up several intriguing plotlines that will undoubtedly be explored further throughout the season.
