Ep 9. Lexmas

Lexmas is the ninth episode of the fifth season of the television series Smallville. Clark decides to take their advice and travels to Metropolis to track down a rare star that Lana had mentioned in passing.

When Clark returns to Smallville with the star, he discovers that Lana has gone missing. He enlists the help of Lois Lane to track her down and they eventually find her stranded on the side of the road after her car breaks down. As they work to fix the car, Lana confides in Clark that she is having second thoughts about her marriage to Lex and that she has feelings for Clark.

Lex's visions eventually lead him to a hospital where he sees a young boy dying of a rare disease. He realizes that the boy is himself as a child and that the disease is fatal. In his final vision, Lex sees a future where he has become a hero who has cured the disease and saved countless lives. He wakes up from his visions with a newfound sense of purpose and resolves to become the man he saw in his visions.

The episode concludes with Clark giving Lana the star and telling her that he will always be there for her, but that she needs to make her own choices. As Clark watches Lana and Lex exchange gifts, he realizes that he may have lost his chance with Lana.
