Clark Kent is finally back in Smallville after his summer break, but things are not as they seem. In episode 3 of season 5, titled "Hidden," Clark must deal with the ramifications of being gone for a few months and what it means for his relationships with his friends and family.
As Clark tries to catch up on everything that has happened in Smallville while he was away, he begins to notice that there is something odd about the way people are acting around him. His friends seem distant and wary, and even his own mother seems to be keeping secrets from him.
Meanwhile, a new girl named Meg (played by Nicki Clyne) arrives in town and starts causing trouble. She seems to have some kind of vendetta against the Kent family, and Clark must figure out what her motivations are before it's too late.
As the episode progresses, Clark discovers that there is more to Meg than meets the eye, and that she may have connections to his old enemies, the Luthors. He must work to uncover the truth about her past and her intentions, all while trying to repair the relationships with the people he cares about.
In addition to Clark's personal struggles, "Hidden" also sets the stage for some major storylines that will play out throughout the rest of the season. A mysterious artifact comes into play, and a secretive government agency known as the Department of Domestic Security takes an interest in the goings-on in Smallville.
Overall, "Hidden" is a solid episode that balances character development with exciting plot points. Fans of the series will enjoy seeing Clark back in Smallville, but may also feel anxious about the potential threats that are looming on the horizon.
