Lana Lang is in a catatonic state hovering between life and death after she absorbed a lethal amount of kryptonite radiation. Clark Kent is desperate to save her and sets out to find a way to enter her subconscious. With the help of Jor-El, Clark manages to enter Lana's subconscious in the form of a giant construct. He meets Lex Luthor, who is also trapped in Lana's subconscious, and the two men have a tense conversation about their respective relationships with Lana.
Meanwhile, Chloe Sullivan is investigating the death of a scientist who was working on a top-secret project for LuthorCorp. She discovers that the project was designed to transport people into a virtual reality world. Chloe tracks down the project's lead scientist and convinces him to use the device to enter Lana's subconscious and bring her back to reality.
Clark faces a series of challenges in Lana's subconscious, and as he progresses, he uncovers secrets about her past that make him question whether he ever really knew her at all. He also realizes that the only way to save Lana is to confront his own fears and doubts about their relationship.
As the two scientists work to bring Lana back to reality, they are interrupted by a group of LuthorCorp mercenaries who are determined to stop them from succeeding. In a tense stand-off, Chloe and the scientist manage to fend off the attackers and successfully transport Lana back to the real world.
Meanwhile, Clark emerges from Lana's subconscious wiser and more determined than ever to protect the people he loves. He also realizes that he needs to let go of his doubts about his relationship with Lana and trust in their love.
The episode ends with Lana waking up from her catatonic state, but it remains unclear whether she remembers anything about Clark's journey into her subconscious. Clark is left to ponder the secrets he uncovered in Lana's subconscious and wonder what they mean for their future together.
