Clark Kent is back in action in season 5 of the fan-favorite show Smallville. In the premiere episode entitled "Arrival," the anticipation for Clark's return to Smallville after his summer away should be sky-high, but it looks like there's a new kid in town – with strange powers to boot.

The episode kicks off with a classic Smallville opener: a meteor shower in Kansas. But this time, something seems...different. A bright light shines from the meteor shower, signaling the arrival of something, or someone, new. Meanwhile, Clark returns home from his summer working on a farm and finding himself again after the events of season 4. But when he lands in Smallville, he feels something has changed.

Clark soon comes face to face with the new arrival - a young man named Milton Fine (played by James Marsters of Buffy the Vampire Slayer fame), who introduces himself as a professor of astrophysics. But Clark, being the seasoned superhero he is, can sense that something isn't quite right. It seems Fine is hiding something about his true identity, but he won't give up any answers to Clark or to Lois Lane, who is on the case.

Meanwhile, Chloe Sullivan starts to work at the Daily Planet in Metropolis, giving her a chance to develop her investigative journalism skills. In Metropolis, she meets a young woman named Kara (played by Adrianne Palicki), who has a mysterious connection to Clark.

As the episode progresses, the tension continues to mount. Clark becomes more and more suspicious of Fine, especially as Fine begins to exhibit powers of his own – including the ability to control and manipulate the minds of others. Clark, with the help of Chloe and Lois, starts to investigate Fine's past, hoping to uncover the truth about his mysterious arrival in Smallville.

The episode is filled with action, romance, and intrigue, keeping viewers on the edge of their seats as they try to unravel the mystery of Fine's true identity. Meanwhile, there are plenty of familiar faces to keep fans of the show happy. We saw a few familiar faces from past seasons, including Lana Lang, Lex Luthor, and Jonathan Kent, all of whom play key roles in Clark's journey this season.

Overall, the season 5 premiere of Smallville, "Arrival," is a must-watch for fans of the show. It sets the stage for what promises to be another exciting season filled with new characters, new storylines, and plenty of action. With its engaging cast of characters, intriguing plot twists, and heart-pumping action scenes, Smallville continues to deliver the goods, keeping audiences entertained and engaged season after season. If you're a fan of superhero dramas or just looking for a thrilling, action-packed show to binge-watch, Smallville is definitely worth checking out – starting with season 5's riveting premiere episode.
