Ep 8. Abandoned

Clark discovers a member of the Veritas clan has survived and is hiding in Smallville. Meanwhile, Lois and Tess are in Brazil tracking down the missing Alexander, and Lana returns to town to visit her aunt Nell Potter, who is worried about her niece's finances. Clark hears Lana's return to town and decides to meet her. Clark and Lois separately learn that Lana has been keeping a secret from them and she invites them both to meet her for lunch. Clark and Lois arrive at the L's Caffè where they find Lana, but their reunion is interrupted by a man named Stuart Campbell. Campbell claims to be investigating a lead on a woman named Lara Bennet but leaves before a thorough interrogation is allowed. Lois and Clark suspect that Campbell is not telling the truth about investigating Lara and decide to investigate.

Meanwhile, Tess and Lois find themselves trapped in South America with no way out, and they are forced to fight off a group of thugs sent by Alexander. Tess reveals that they were looking for Alexander because he has taken control of their corporation and is trying to sell off their assets. The two women have to work together to come up with a plan to escape before Alexander ruins everything they have worked for.

Back in Smallville, Clark feels that Lana is hiding something from him and decides to ask Tess for help. Tess agrees to do her own investigation and discovers a link between Stuart Campbell and a secret society called Black Creek, which appears to have ties to Veritas. They speculate that Campbell might have a connection to the Veritas clan member who is hiding in Smallville.

In the meantime, Oliver continues his search for his missing friend, Chloe. He gets closer to the truth when he meets a woman named Skye who claims to have information about Chloe's whereabouts. But when he takes Skye to where Chloe is supposed to be held captive, he finds that it's a trap set up by Desaad. Desaad reveals to Oliver that he knows he is the Green Arrow and is now a target.

The episode ends with Campbell meeting with the Veritas clan member in hopes of making a deal. But the member reveals that they are not interested in what Campbell has to offer and kills him instead. The member then makes their way to Nell Potter's house, where they meet with Lana and reveal their true identity. Lana is shocked to discover that the Veritas clan member is her mother, and she has returned to Smallville to reclaim her daughter who was taken away from her by Lionel Luthor years ago.
