As the tenth and final season of Smallville begins to ramp up towards its conclusion, we find ourselves with a much-anticipated episode titled "Luthor." This installment of the series promises to be a rather significant one, as it revolves around the character who has been the show's archenemy throughout its entire run.

Of course, we're talking about Lex Luthor, played by the talented actor Michael Rosenbaum. As we go into the episode, it's been some time since we've seen Luthor on the show, as he was seemingly killed off in the eighth season. However, we all know that comic book characters have a way of coming back from the dead, so the possibility of his return has been looming over the series for a while now.

Sure enough, in "Luthor," we finally get to see Michael Rosenbaum back in the role that he played so brilliantly throughout the show's early seasons. The episode itself focuses primarily on the character, as it explores his life in the years after his supposed death. We get to see what Luthor has been up to, what he's been thinking, and how he feels about his greatest enemy, Clark Kent.

One of the things that makes "Luthor" such an interesting episode is that it's not just a standalone story. Instead, it ties together several different plot threads that have been building throughout the season. For example, we see Clark continuing to struggle with his dual identity as Superman. We also get hints of an impending showdown between Clark and the mysterious "Darkseid," who has been referenced throughout the season as a major threat.

Amidst all of this, "Luthor" provides an interesting glimpse into the mind of one of the show's most complex characters. We get to see how Luthor has changed in the years since his supposed death, and how his relationship with Clark has evolved. In some ways, we see that he's more sympathetic than he was before, as he's forced to confront the reality of his own mortality. At the same time, however, we're left wondering whether his intentions towards Clark are truly benevolent.

Of course, as with any episode of Smallville, "Luthor" is also packed with plenty of action and suspense. While it's primarily a character-driven episode, there are still moments of intense action and violence that remind us of the stakes involved. We're left on the edge of our seats as we watch Clark and Luthor interact, knowing that their inevitable showdown is still looming.

Overall, "Luthor" is a standout episode of Smallville that manages to tie together several different plot threads while also providing an in-depth exploration of one of the show's most beloved characters. Fans of the series will undoubtedly want to check it out, particularly if they've been eagerly waiting for Michael Rosenbaum to return to the role that made him famous. With all of this in mind, it's safe to say that "Luthor" is an essential episode of Smallville that's not to be missed.
