"Smallville" season 10 episode 1, "Lazarus," picks up where the previous season left off with a bang. Clark Kent has finally embraced his role as Superman, but there is a lot more to come before his superhero journey is complete.
The episode centers on Clark's resurrection after being killed by the Kryptonian monster Doomsday. With the help of his friend and mentor, Jor-El, Clark is brought back to life and given back his powers. Now that he's stronger than ever, Clark sets out to take on whatever threats come his way, including the new warlord known as Darkseid.
While Clark's resurrection is certainly the highlight of "Lazarus," the episode also spends a considerable amount of time setting up the season's overarching storylines. We see the beginnings of a romance between Lois Lane and Clark, as well as the return of old villains like Lionel Luthor and Martha Kent.
One of the most intriguing elements of "Lazarus" is the introduction of a new character named Kara. It's revealed that she is actually Zor-El's daughter, making her Clark's cousin. While she doesn't have all of the same powers as Superman, she's still an impressive new player in the Smallville universe.
As always, the episode is packed with action and suspense, as well as plenty of emotional moments. With the series coming to an end after this season, "Lazarus" sets the tone for a thrilling and satisfying conclusion to one of the most beloved superhero shows of all time.
