Ep 9. Obsession

In the ninth episode of Season 2 of Sliders titled "Obsession," the group encounters a world where a deadly virus has spread forcing humanity to retreat underground. The sliders arrive in a dimly lit tunnel that leads them to a secret underground marketplace. The streets are busy with people selling illegal items and trading. Arturo, the group's genius scientist, is fascinated by the technology used by the people in this world. He begins to interact with the locals, even demonstrating his own inventions to a group of young scientists.

As the sliders move through the marketplace, they cross paths with a woman named Eliza. Eliza is the daughter of a wealthy billionaire philanthropist named Karyn. Karyn is the only person who has access to a vaccine that could cure the virus and save the world. The sliders soon learn that Karyn is obsessed with power and control. She has kept the vaccine to herself, only sharing it with a select group of people who follow her rules.

Eliza is on a quest to find her mother and obtain the vaccine to save her dying sister. She enlists the help of the sliders, and they agree to help her retrieve it. However, Karyn is not willing to let go of her power or give up the vaccine. She has an army of followers who will do anything to protect her and keep the vaccine secure. The sliders find themselves in a dangerous situation as they confront Karyn and her army.

Meanwhile, Arturo becomes obsessed with a new device he has created that allows him to travel between dimensions. In his obsession, he loses sight of the mission and puts the rest of the sliders in danger. He neglects Eliza's request for help and spends all his time creating new inventions. This obsession leads him down a dangerous path, and he puts himself and the rest of the sliders in harm's way.

As the group tries to retrieve the vaccine, they must navigate through dangerous tunnels and fight off Karyn's army. Eliza's sister's condition continues to worsen, and time is running out. The sliders must work together to save her while also escaping Karyn's clutches.

In the end, the group learns a valuable lesson about obsession and the dangers it can bring. Arturo realizes that his obsession with his invention almost cost them everything, and he vows to be more careful in the future. Eliza is able to save her sister, and they all make it back to the portal just in time to slide out. They leave behind a world on the brink of destruction, but with the hope that someone will eventually find a cure for the virus.
