Slasher is a suspenseful horror anthology series that aired on the Chiller network in 2016. Created by Aaron Martin, the show follows a different storyline in each season, with a new cast of characters and a new, brutal killer to catch. Season one, aptly titled "The Executioner", centers around Sarah Bennett, played by Melinda Shankar, who has returned to her hometown of Waterbury, Canada, with her husband Dylan (Jim Watson) to start a new life. The only problem is, Waterbury has a dark history, and Sarah's parents were brutally murdered in their home twenty-eight years ago by a mysterious killer known as The Executioner, who was never caught.

As Sarah settles into her new life, strange things start happening. A local man is found murdered in a manner similar to The Executioner's previous kills, and soon more murders follow. Sarah finds herself targeted by The Executioner, who seems to have a connection to her past - and maybe even her family. With the help of Crimson, the local newspaper editor played by Steve Byers, and her childhood friend Cam (Lovell Adams-Gray), Sarah tries to uncover the truth behind the killings and stop The Executioner before it's too late.

Meanwhile, we are also introduced to a cast of characters who may or may not be involved in the killings. There's Tom Winston (Patrick Garrow), a convicted murderer who claims to know who The Executioner is and wants to help Sarah catch them. There's also Sarah's grandmother Brenda (Wendy Crewson), owner of the local bed and breakfast who seems to know more than she's letting on, and Sheila (Hannah Endicott-Douglas), Sarah's troubled half-sister who comes to stay with her and Dylan.

One of the standout performances in Slasher comes from Leslie Hope, who plays Sarah's mother in flashbacks. Hope is a veteran actress of film and television, appearing in everything from The X-Files to 24 to The Strain, and she brings a powerful presence to Slasher even in death. We see her murder in gruesome detail in the first episode, and her ghostly presence looms over the entire season.

Kaitlyn Leeb also delivers a solid performance as Lisa Ann Follows, a local news reporter who becomes obsessed with the murders and starts digging into Sarah's past. Lisa Ann is a complicated character who is both sympathetic and manipulative, and she adds a layer of tension to the already tense storyline.

Rebecca Liddiard plays Sarah's new neighbor, Robin, who is struggling with her own trauma related to her brother's death. Liddiard is a talented young actress who brings a vulnerability and strength to Robin's character, and her chemistry with Shankar is one of the highlights of the season.

The cast of Slasher is rounded out by Paula Brancati, who plays Sarah's childhood friend Susan, and Christopher Jacot, who plays young police officer Iain Vaughn. Both actors give solid performances and help to flesh out the town of Waterbury as a character in itself.

The standout feature of Slasher is its commitment to gore and horror. The killings are brutal and graphic, and the show does not shy away from showing the aftermath of the murders. This is not a show for the faint of heart, and it earns its place as a true horror series.

Overall, Slasher is a thrilling and suspenseful horror series with a strong cast of characters and an engaging storyline. It will keep you guessing until the very end, and each season offers a fresh take on the horror genre. It's a shame the show only lasted for three seasons, but each one is worth a watch for horror fans looking for something different.
