Ryonan scores first, but Shohoku's Hanamichi scores right back. He makes a shot under-the-rim that he never made before. Ryonan, included the whole arena, is shocked at Hanamichi's improvement. After the practice game, Sendo, who told Hanamichi, "If you want to beat me, practice like you're going to die," sees his improvement and gets fired up.
