In the first episode of the third series of Skins, entitled "Everyone", we are introduced to a new group of pupils at Roundview College in Bristol. The episode begins with a scene of a wild house party, where all of the main characters are introduced in quick succession. The main focus of the episode is on the character of Effy Stonem, who is now 16 years old and has become increasingly independent from her family.

Effy is still recovering from the events of the previous series, where she was sent to a psychiatric hospital after suffering a breakdown. She is now living with her brother Tony and his girlfriend Michelle, and is struggling to find her place in the world. Effy is a complex character, who is both confident and vulnerable at the same time. She is intelligent and streetwise, but often finds it hard to express her emotions or connect with others.

The episode follows Effy as she tries to navigate the complexities of her new life. She is still struggling with depression and anxiety, and is finding it hard to get over the events of the previous series. She is also dealing with the pressures of being a teenager, such as fitting in with her new friends and navigating her way through the social hierarchy of the school.

One of the major themes of the episode is the idea of identity. Effy is struggling to define who she is and what she wants from life. She is surrounded by a group of friends who all seem to know exactly who they are and what they want, and she feels like she is the only one who is lost. This is compounded by the fact that she is still dealing with the fallout from her previous breakdown, and is not sure how to move on from it.

The other characters in the episode are also struggling with their own identities. Freddie is dealing with the fact that he has feelings for Effy, but is not sure how to express them. Cook is the wild card of the group, who is always up for a good time but is also dealing with family issues. JJ is the quiet one of the group, who is struggling to fit in with his new friends.

The episode is also infused with humor and wit. The characters are all quick-witted and sharp-tongued, and there are several moments of laugh-out-loud comedy. However, there are also moments of pathos and poignancy, particularly in the scenes where Effy is struggling with her emotions.

Overall, "Everyone" is an excellent episode that sets the stage for the rest of the series. It introduces the new group of characters in a compelling and engaging way, and sets up some interesting storylines for future episodes. It also tackles some important themes, such as identity and mental illness, in a sensitive and nuanced way. Whether you are a fan of Skins or just looking for a quality teen drama, "Everyone" is well worth a watch.
