In the fifth episode of Siren's third season, titled "Mommy and Me," we see Ryn finally reunite with her daughter, whom she has been searching for since the end of the previous season. Meanwhile, Ben and Maddie work on finding a cure for the siren song that affects Ryn and other mermaids, while also keeping it hidden from the rest of the town.
The episode begins with Ryn, who has been staying in the military base with her baby daughter, learning that the government wants to take her child away and study her. Afraid of losing her again, Ryn decides to take her daughter and flee, with help from Maddie and Ben.
As they make their escape, they realize that the siren song still affects Ryn and starts to draw the attention of nearby boats. In order to protect Ryn and her daughter, Ben and Maddie work on creating a device to block the siren song.
Meanwhile, we see Helen learning more about her family's past and the origin of the mermaids. She discovers that there is more to her family's history than she originally thought, and her research leads her to cross paths with a mysterious stranger who may hold important information.
As Ryn and her daughter hide in a cabin in the woods, they open up to each other and we see a more maternal side of Ryn that we haven't seen before. However, their peace is short-lived when the government finds them and a confrontation ensues.
The episode ends with a shocking twist that leaves the fate of one of the characters uncertain and sets up for more drama in the upcoming episodes.
"Mommy and Me" is a thrilling episode that explores the depths of Ryn's character and the complex relationships between the humans and mermaids in the show. It also introduces interesting new plot points that leave viewers eager to see what happens next.
