Ep 6. Distress Call

Ryn, Ben, and Maddie are on their way to investigate a distress call from another mermaid colony. Ryn is eager to find out what's going on, but Ben and Maddie are more cautious. They're worried about the potential dangers of venturing into unknown waters, especially since they've never encountered this particular colony before. Nevertheless, Ryn convinces them to come along, and they set off in Ben's boat.

Once they arrive, they find that the colony is much smaller than they expected, with only a few mermaids living there. The mermaids seem nervous and agitated, and they're reluctant to speak to Ryn, Ben, and Maddie. However, Ryn is persistent, and she eventually convinces one of the mermaids to talk to them.

The mermaid, whose name is Nia, tells them that their colony is in trouble. There's been a shortage of food, and some of the younger mermaids are becoming sick. Nia believes that the humans are to blame, as their fishing has caused a decline in the local fish population. She wants Ryn, Ben, and Maddie to help them find a new source of food.

At first, Ben and Maddie are skeptical. They don't want to get involved in the mermaid's problems, especially since they're so far from home. However, Ryn is determined to help her fellow mermaids, and she eventually convinces them to join her.

The group sets out on a search for a new food source, but they quickly run into problems. The water is colder and more turbulent than they're used to, and they have trouble finding any fish. Meanwhile, tensions are running high between Nia and Ryn. Nia thinks that Ryn is being too optimistic and unrealistic about their chances of finding food, while Ryn thinks that Nia is being too negative and defeatist.

As they continue their search, they come across a human fishing boat. They watch from a distance as the fishermen haul in a large catch. Ryn is horrified by the sight of so many fish being caught at once, and she's even more upset when she sees that some of the smaller fish are being thrown back, dead.

Ben and Maddie try to convince Ryn that the humans are just doing what they've always done, and that it's not their fault that the mermaids are struggling to find food. However, Ryn is determined to find a way to help her fellow mermaids, and she comes up with a risky plan.

The plan involves stealing some of the fish from the human's boat. Ben and Maddie are hesitant, but Ryn is confident that they can pull it off. They sneak up to the boat under the cover of darkness, and Ryn uses her powers to immobilize the fishermen while Ben and Maddie grab some fish.

The plan goes smoothly at first, but things quickly go wrong. One of the fishermen wakes up and sees Ryn's tail, and he sounds the alarm. The group is forced to flee, with the fishermen in hot pursuit. They manage to escape, but not before one of the fishermen sees Ryn's face.

Back at the mermaid colony, things are tense. Nia is still skeptical of Ryn's plan, and she's upset that the group has put them in even more danger by stealing from the humans. However, Ryn is confident that their actions will make the humans think twice about overfishing, and she's pleased to see that the mermaids are finally starting to come together and help each other.

As the episode ends, the group prepares to head back home. They may have succeeded in helping the mermaid colony, but they know that they've put themselves in danger by stealing from the humans. They're not sure what will happen next, but they know that they'll need to be careful if they want to avoid getting caught.
