Single Parents is an American sitcom that premiered on ABC in 2018, running for two seasons that ended in 2020, and it's a captivating show that centres on the challenges faced by a group of single parents, who all share a similar fate and struggle to balance their busy lives with parenting. It is a warm and funny show that will keep you engaged right from the first episode.

The show follows the life of a group of single parents who live in a suburban neighbourhood somewhere in Los Angeles. The group is an unlikely bunch of people who are brought together by their shared experiences and common struggles. Will Cooper (Taran Killam) is one of the main characters and he was recently divorced with a seven-year-old daughter, Sophie (Marlow Barkley).

Will is a quirky and nervous guy who can't seem to find a balance between his new single status and the demands of being a single dad. He's been going to single parents' events and finds himself in the company of other single parents who also have their own unique problems. These include Angie D'Amato (Leighton Meester), Poppy Banks (Kimrie Lewis-Davis), Miggy Park (Jake Choi), and Douglas Fogerty (Brad Garrett).

Angie D'Amato is a harried mom of a very intelligent son named Graham (Tyler Wladis), who has a penchant for asking questions that are way beyond his years. Poppy Banks is an overworked, over-scheduled single mom who is trying to start her own business. Miggy Park is a carefree, laid-back guy who is the youngest in the group and just wants to have fun. Douglas Fogerty is a wealthy, older divorcee with a teenage daughter named Emma (Ella Allan). He is a bit of a grump and sticks to his old ways, but he is slowly warming up to the rest of the group.

The show is centred on the dynamic between these characters, as well as their individual struggles as they try to navigate life as single parents. The show is a lighthearted take on the challenges that many single parents face, from juggling work and family life to dealing with ex-spouses and finding time for their own personal pursuits.

One of the things that make this show stand out is the characters. Each character is well developed, and the actors who play them bring a unique energy to the show. Taran Killam, who plays Will Cooper, is charismatic and endearing, bringing a much-needed energy to the group. Leighton Meester, who plays Angie D'Amato, is a delight to watch, bringing a sense of humour and heart to her character. Brad Garrett, who plays Douglas Fogerty, is perfect as the cantankerous old man who softens over time.

Another notable aspect of the show is its writing. The show creators have done an excellent job of crafting a show that is relatable, engaging and full of heart. The show has a great mix of humour and drama, which makes it a perfect show for anyone who wants to laugh and cry at the same time. The show also tackles some of the challenges that single parents face in a delicate, yet poignant way, never shying away from the issues but never dwelling on them either.

The show's setting is also worth mentioning. The suburban neighbourhood where the characters live has a charming, laid-back vibe that perfectly complements the show's tone. The show's use of colourful and vibrant sets and costumes is also noteworthy, adding to the show's overall aesthetic.

Single Parents is a great show that highlights the challenges faced by single parents in a relatable and engaging way. It is a show that has heart, humour, and a ton of memorable characters. It's a feel-good show that will leave you feeling warm and fuzzy inside.

Single Parents is a series that ran for 2 seasons (45 episodes) between September 26, 2018 and on ABC (US)
