Set in the rugged west coast of Ireland, "Single-Handed" follows the life of Sergeant Jack Driscoll, a local Garda officer. In the first episode titled, "Natural Justice," Jack is called to investigate the mysterious death of a young woman, whose body is found washed up on the shore. The chief suspect is a wealthy local businessman, Brian Devlin, who had a previous relationship with the victim.

Jack's investigation is complicated by the fact that he has a personal history with Devlin and his family. Devlin is a controlling, manipulative man who uses his wealth to intimidate those around him. Jack's relationship with Devlin is further complicated when he discovers that Devlin is now involved with Jack's ex-girlfriend, Dr. Helen Dixon.

As Jack explores the murky underbelly of the local community, he discovers a web of corruption and deceit that stretches beyond the small town. He begins to uncover evidence that suggests Devlin's involvement in illegal activities, including drug trafficking and money laundering.

As the investigation unfolds, Jack's personal life begins to unravel. His relationship with Helen is strained, and he struggles to maintain a bond with his father, who is suffering from dementia. Jack's only ally is his partner, Garda Finbarr Boyle, who provides him with much-needed support and guidance.

The investigation takes a dramatic turn when one of Devlin's associates is found murdered. As the body count rises, Jack becomes convinced that Devlin is responsible for the killings. However, with the weight of the local establishment against him, Jack must tread carefully if he is to bring Devlin to justice.

"Single-Handed" is an intense, character-driven drama that explores the complicated relationships between the people of a small community. The first episode sets the tone for the series, which is full of twists and turns as Jack navigates the complex world of law enforcement in a place where everyone knows everyone else's business. The stunning location shots and authentic accents lend the show a gritty, realistic feel, while the themes of loyalty, integrity, and corruption resonate with viewers on a deeper level.

Overall, "Single-Handed" is a must-watch for fans of crime dramas and character-driven storytelling. The first episode, "Natural Justice," is a gripping introduction to the series and sets the stage for the drama that will unfold in the episodes to come.
