Simoun is an anime series produced by Bandai that aired in Japan in 2006. The story takes place in a world where people have the ability to manipulate a sacred machine called a Simoun. These machines have the power to fly through the skies and fight in battle, but only young girls are allowed to pilot them.

The main character of the series is a young girl named Aer, voiced by Megumi Toyoguchi. She starts off as a member of the Papal State's sky force, but she soon becomes disillusioned with the Church's teachings and decides to leave. Along with a group of friends, Aer joins the country of Chor Tempest in their fight against the invading enemy nation of Argentum.

The cast of characters is made up of a diverse group of young women, each with their own unique personalities and backgrounds. Rika Morinaga voices the serious and stoic Neviril, who serves as the leader of the Chor Tempest sky force, while Nazuka Kaori plays the bubbly and cheerful Paraietta, a fellow pilot who is in love with Neviril.

Mamiko Noto voices the level-headed and dependable Amuria, Eri Kitamura plays the hot-headed and impulsive Morinas, and Reiko Kiuchi voices the talented but arrogant Kaimu. Ami Koshimizu plays the gentle and kind-hearted Aaeru, Yukana voices the mysterious and enigmatic Yun, and Houko Kuwashima plays the high-strung and ambitious Dominura.

The supporting cast is just as varied and interesting, with Mikako Takahashi voicing the young and innocent Rodoreamon, Fumie Mizusawa playing the wise and experienced Alti, Michiko Hosokoshi playing the sensitive and caring Waporif, and Michiru Aizawa voicing the naive and enthusiastic Floe.

Nana Mizuki voices the villainous Mamiina, a Simoun pilot from Argentum who is determined to destroy Chor Tempest. Sakiko Tamagawa plays the wise and powerful Aer's grandmother, who serves as a guiding force for the young girl throughout the series. Other supporting characters include Michi Niino as Rimone, Rieko Takahashi as Onasia, Ai Hayasaka as Mamina, Yukana as Furoe, and Urara Takano as Guragief.

The animation in Simoun is beautiful and colorful, with vibrant character designs and fluid action sequences. The world-building is also incredibly detailed and unique, with a rich mythology surrounding the Simoun and the religious practices of the story's world.

Overall, Simoun is a fascinating and compelling anime series that explores themes of identity, religion, and war through its diverse and well-written cast of characters. With stunning animation and a captivating story, it's a must-watch for any anime fan.
