Rushed to the hospital in the wake of a shooting, Chris barely hangs onto life. With help from Dr. Jillian Dupree, he regains consciousness several days later to find Rita at his bedside. But when he is released after two more weeks, an infatuated and grateful Chns asks Jillian for a date, only to have her turn him down. Returning home to recuperate, Chris realizes that the process will be long, slow and frustrating as he meets his new physical, therapist Marta. Meanwhile, when he is not shuttling Chris around town, Atticus finds work with Radovan, a dealer of pirated videotapes, whle Rita puts in time at a runaway center, unaware of a new danger lurking outside.
