In the season 12 episode 6 of Silent Witness titled "Terror (2)", the team at the Lyell Centre continue their investigation into a deadly bombing at an army barracks. The team must carefully piece together traces of evidence to find out who is behind the attack and bring them to justice.
Dr. Nikki Alexander played by Emilia Fox and her team investigate this case after the explosion at the barracks. The police take the group as possible suspects and the task force has to evaluate the clues that can prove their involvement if any. Nikki is convinced that the bomb was not made by terrorists and was made from supplies available in the UK. Jack Hodgson played by David Caves is responsible for analyzing the bomb remnants found at the site. He discovers that the plastic molds used to craft them had previously been used for creating prosthetics, which indicates that the FBI might be involved.
The team's investigation leads them to the conclusion that the bomb was created and placed by someone within the army. The team further investigates to find out who it was. Meanwhile, Dr. Thomas Chamberlain played by Richard Lintern is trying to cope with his personal and professional life. He is dealing with the aftermath of his survivor's guilt after losing someone on his team.
As Nikki is collecting evidence and speaking to people in the army about the attack, she realizes that she is being followed. When she investigates further, she finds that MI5 is also involved in monitoring the case. In the end, the investigation leads to a shocking discovery and it becomes apparent that many people have been affected by the tragic attack.
Throughout the episode, the characters struggle to cope with the events surrounding them and struggles with trust. Throughout their investigation, the team faces several obstacles, including efforts to obstruct their investigation. The team must work together to unravel the complex web of lies and uncover the truth behind the attack.
