Showtrial is a British legal thriller television show that centres around the trial of a young woman, Talitha Campbell, who is accused of the murder of a fellow student, Hannah Ellis, at a prestigious university in Edinburgh. In episode 4, the prosecution begins to present their case against Talitha. The episode opens with the Crown Prosecutor, Carol Morris, attempting to paint Talitha as a jealous and vindictive person who would stop at nothing to eliminate her competition. Morris calls several witnesses who testify about Talitha's aggressive behaviour towards Hannah, including an incident where Talitha threatened to expose Hannah's drug use if she didn't withdraw from a scholarship competition. The witnesses also reveal that Talitha had a reputation for being manipulative and controlling, and that she and Hannah had a tumultuous relationship.

Talitha's defence team, led by barrister Max Hill QC, is quick to point out the inconsistencies in the prosecution's case. For one, many of the witnesses who have testified against Talitha have their own motives and biases - some of them had been rejected for the scholarship that Hannah and Talitha were competing for, while others had personal grudges against Talitha. Additionally, the prosecution has yet to provide any concrete evidence linking Talitha to the murder.

As the trial progresses, Talitha's character is further scrutinised. Morris calls a former professor of Talitha's to testify that she had been caught cheating on an exam in the past. On cross-examination, however, Talitha's defence team is able to reveal that the professor had failed to properly supervise the exam, and that Talitha had only been given a warning, rather than being expelled, as the prosecution had implied.

The episode ends with an unexpected twist. A new witness, a fellow student at the university who had been friends with both Talitha and Hannah, comes forward with crucial evidence that could exonerate Talitha. However, before he is able to testify, he is attacked and left for dead outside the courthouse. The development leaves the trial in a state of suspension, with both the prosecution and defence teams scrambling to figure out what happened to the witness. Meanwhile, Talitha remains in custody, her fate unknown.

Showtrial's fourth episode is tense and full of drama, as the trial begins to heat up and new mysteries are introduced. The show's stellar cast and well-written script make for a gripping viewing experience, as viewers are left to ponder the case's many twists and turns.
