In Sheriff Callie's Wild West season 1 episode 1, there are two different stories that are told. The first story is called "Horseshoe Peck." In this story, Peck the woodpecker accidentally breaks the town's horseshoe that everyone believes brings them good luck. He tries to fix it himself, but he's unable to. The townspeople become upset with Peck, and he becomes depressed. Callie, the sheriff, comes to his rescue and tells Peck that it's okay to make mistakes and that everyone does. She helps Peck fix the horseshoe, and everything turns out okay in the end.
The second story is called "Callie's Gold Nugget." Callie finds a gold nugget while she's out riding, and she thinks that it will be enough to fix the town's bell tower. She brings the gold nugget to Uncle Bun and asks him to sell it so the town can use the money to fix the bell tower. Uncle Bun instead tells Callie about the story of the three bears and their different sized bowls of porridge and how they relate to the different types of gold nuggets. Callie learns that her gold nugget isn't worth as much as she thought it was and that she needs to find more gold if she wants to raise enough money to fix the bell tower. In the end, Callie and her friends go on a journey to find more gold and are successful in raising enough money to fix the bell tower.
Throughout both stories, Sheriff Callie teaches the audience valuable lessons about friendship, making mistakes, and perseverance. Even though Peck made a mistake by breaking the horseshoe, the townspeople forgive him because they know that he didn't intend to break it, and Callie helps him fix it. Callie also teaches the audience about the value of hard work and determination. She didn't give up when she found out that her gold nugget wasn't worth as much as she thought it was. Instead, she put in the effort to find more gold and was successful in her mission.
