Ep 2. The Martini Shot

The Martini Shot begins with three convicted women in a high-security prison being recruited for a secret government agency called D.O.A. to work as spies. Cameron Doherty is their new boss and he assigns the She Spies on their first mission. The trio, Cassie, D.D. and Shane, are to retrieve a photosensitive chip which is in the possession of Avi Pressman, a member of the dangerous Russian mafia.

Before their mission, they are given a taste of high society by Cameron who takes them to a Hollywood party as part of their training. Their cover stories are that they are models and Cameron is their photographer. At the party, they come across Avi Pressman who shows a liking towards Cassie and invites her to a business meeting at his place.

The next day the trio follows Cassie when she goes to Pressman's mansion where they discover that the photosensitive chip is being used to develop advanced stealth technology. Much to their surprise, they are also made aware that Cassie is actually the daughter of Pressman who has been estranged from him for many years. Cassie's feelings are confused as she learns that her father is a dangerous criminal who is involved in illegal activities.

Pressman has Cassie accompany him to a meet, but she manages to stall him long enough for the She Spies to swoop in and rescue her. D.D. retrieves the chip and they escape just in time before the Russian mafia can catch up to them.

As the She Spies make their escape, they are chased by a helicopter, but they manage to evade it. They then head back to D.O.A. headquarters to give Cameron the chip. Cassie is still shaken about learning that her father is a criminal and Cameron tries to reassure her that he will not let anything happen to her. The episode ends with the trio bonding over a drink, but Cassie still remains reflective about her complicated feelings towards her father.

Overall, The Martini Shot is an action-packed episode with thrilling car chases and aerial pursuits. The theme of familial relationships and loyalty is also explored, making it more than just a typical spy show. It is a great entry point to the series and introduces the character dynamics and relationships between the She Spies as well as their mission objectives.
