Ep 14. Range Beauty, Diaper Dust, Pinole Blue, Junobie

In Season 13, Episode 14 of Shark Tank, we see four unique businesses presenting their ideas to the sharks in hopes of securing an investment.

First up is Range Beauty, a cosmetics company that focuses on creating products for all skin shades and undertones. The founder, Alicia Scott, explains that she experienced difficulty finding foundations and other makeup products that would work for her skin tone, sparking her desire to create her own. The sharks are impressed with the quality of the products and the company's mission to be inclusive, but questions arise about the scalability and competition within the industry.

Next is Diaper Dust, a subscription service that delivers eco-friendly diapers and wipes to customers on a monthly basis. The founder, Conner Sabatino, pitches the company as a way to save parents money while also helping the environment. The sharks raise concerns about the high cost of producing eco-friendly products and the difficulty of competing with larger, established brands.

The third pitch is from Pinole Blue, a food company that produces pinole, a traditional Mexican drink made from roasted maize, in a variety of flavors. The founder, Olivia Sanchez, explains that she discovered pinole while living in Mexico and was inspired to bring it to the United States. The sharks are intrigued by the unique product and its potential for growth, but question the marketability and scalability of a lesser-known drink.

Lastly, Junobie presents their line of eco-friendly and reusable snack and sandwich bags. The founder, Jennifer Jordan, explains that the bags are made from silicone and can be used hundreds of times, unlike traditional plastic bags that are used once and then thrown away. The sharks are impressed with the sustainability aspect of the business and the potential for expansion beyond just snack bags.

Throughout the episode, tensions rise as the sharks push for higher equity stakes and some entrepreneurs push back. However, all businesses receive offers and it remains to be seen which deals will ultimately be accepted.
