Frank faces a surreal experience when he wakes up in a strange place. While he tries to figure out what happened, his family is dealing with their own problems. Lip is struggling to make ends meet while taking care of his son, Tami, and the rest of the family. Debbie is trying to keep her relationship with Claudia a secret from her family. Meanwhile, Ian and Mickey are trying to find their way in their new life together, and Carl is dealing with the aftermath of his shooting.
As Frank tries to find his way back home, he encounters different versions of America – from a patriotic veteran to a group of hippies living off the grid. These encounters force him to confront his own beliefs and values about what it means to be an American.
Back at home, Lip's financial struggles lead him to consider a new business venture, but he faces pushback from Tami.
