After the dramatic events of the last few episodes, "Shadowhunters" Season 1 Episode 5, titled "Moo Shu to Go," serves as a bit of a breather for the show's characters - but that doesn't mean there isn't plenty of drama in store.
The episode picks up immediately after the events of the fourth episode, with Clary and Simon still reeling from the fact that Clary's mother is in a magical coma. Clary is determined to do something about it, but the Clave (the governing body of the Shadowhunters) wants nothing to do with her - despite her newfound powers as a Shadowhunter.
Meanwhile, the group's newest member, Luke, is dealing with some serious personal issues. His werewolf pack is searching for him, and he's worried that they might hurt his adopted daughter, Clary. This storyline adds a layer of tension to an already-packed episode, as Luke becomes increasingly desperate to keep Clary safe.
As for the rest of the gang, "Moo Shu to Go" focuses on their personal lives and relationships. There's some flirting between Clary and Jace (much to Simon's chagrin), and Alec begins to feel more conflicted about his feelings for Magnus. And, of course, there's some demon-slaying action as well, as the Shadowhunters team up to take down a particularly nasty demon that's been attacking mundanes (non-magical humans).
Overall, "Moo Shu to Go" is a character-driven episode that gives viewers a chance to catch their breath after the non-stop action of the first few episodes. But, as always with "Shadowhunters," there are plenty of twists and turns in store - so fans won't want to miss a second.
