In the Sesame Street season 50 episode 33 titled "Big Bird's Fairy Tale," the beloved yellow bird takes on the role of a prince in a fairy tale. Throughout the episode, Big Bird learns valuable lessons about bravery, kindness, and the power of belief.
The episode begins with Big Bird wandering through Sesame Street, feeling down and discouraged. He longs to be a hero, like the knights and princes in his favorite fairy tales. Elmo and Abby Cadabby notice how sad he is and offer to help. Together, they decide to create a fairy tale of their own starring Big Bird as the hero.
As they begin to write the story, Big Bird is filled with excitement and enthusiasm. He tries on different costumes and practices his heroic poses. But as the story starts to take shape, Big Bird becomes nervous. He starts to doubt himself and worries that he won't be able to live up to the heroic standards set by his favorite characters.
In an effort to boost his confidence, Elmo and Abby suggest that Big Bird talk to some of Sesame Street's other residents who have gone on their own heroic adventures. First, they visit Super Grover, who shares his story of rescuing a cat from a tree. Despite running into challenges along the way, Grover was able to overcome his fears and save the day.
Next, they talk to Rosita, who tells the story of her bravery in crossing a bridge over a deep ravine. Though she was scared, Rosita knew that she had to face her fears to get to the other side. Finally, they speak with Telly, who shares his story of standing up to a bully. Though he was scared, Telly knew that it was important to be brave and defend his friend.
Inspired by their stories, Big Bird regains his confidence and is ready to continue writing his own fairy tale. But as they work on the story, they come across a problem. In their excitement, they had forgotten to include a villain for Big Bird to defeat! Without a foe to conquer, how could he possibly be a hero?
Elmo and Abby come up with an idea. They introduce a new character to the story - the Sneezing Dragon. The dragon has been terrorizing the kingdom by sneezing uncontrollably, causing chaos and destruction wherever he goes. Though Big Bird is initially intimidated by the dragon's size and power, he knows that he must find a way to stop him and save the day.
With his friends by his side, Big Bird sets off on his adventure. He tracks down the dragon and confronts him, using quick thinking and bravery to subdue the beast. Finally, Big Bird is able to cure the dragon's sneezing by giving him a giant feather, and the kingdom is safe once again.
As the story comes to a close, Big Bird reflects on his journey and the lessons he learned along the way. He realizes how important it is to believe in himself, to be kind and brave, and to always stand up for what's right. And with the help of his friends, he knows that he can be a hero whenever he needs to be.
Overall, "Big Bird's Fairy Tale" is a heartwarming and uplifting episode of Sesame Street that teaches valuable lessons about self-confidence, friendship, and the importance of believing in oneself. Through Big Bird's journey, viewers are reminded that anyone can be a hero - as long as they have courage, kindness, and a little bit of imagination.
